Song of Despair

How long

before the clock of needless death

and true madness

finally stops ticking.



How long

before those granted power

stop condoning and encircling

applauding

those who proclaim the

right to slaughter the innocents

reigning death and horrific destruction

from the sky

reminiscent of the darkest days

of Vietnam,

condemning those who

recoil from such an extreme

desecration of life.



How long

before we speak out

loudly to

those who proclaim lie over truth

bigotry and hatred

over compassion, kindness

love,

before we reject

chaos, needless suffering and death and

choose peace and harmony instead.

How long

before

we understand

that without a moral compass

the human world will fall into

a hell of its own making.
