A disillusioned and highly disturbed young man kills eight unsuspecting individuals at a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska and then kills himself. He manages this using an AK-47 rifle. Each time an event like this happens, we mourn and grieve over the unfortunate and unnecessary loss of life. Each time we quickly forget after it happens; until, the next tragic event unfolds. How many thousands of lives are lost each year as a direct result of gun violence? Yet the beat goes on.
