Tragedy at Omaha's Westroads Mall

A disillusioned and highly disturbed young man kills eight unsuspecting individuals at a shopping mall in Omaha, Nebraska and then kills himself. He manages this using an AK-47 rifle. I suppose he was exercising his inalienable second amendment right to carry and bear arms. How many tragedies of this kind will be required, before this nation attempts to reassess its collective position on gun control?

Each time an event like this happens, we mourn and grieve over the unfortunate and unnecessary loss of life. Each time we quickly forget after it happens; until, the next tragic event unfolds. How many thousands of lives are lost each year as a direct result of gun violence? Yet the beat goes on.
